NC-47 Solar Farm

Partnership for world-class large-scale solar

VivoPower developed, designed, financed and built the 47.6 MW NC-47 Solar Farm in Maxton, North Carolina, USA. NC-47 was the second of two solar farms completed by VivoPower in North Carolina totalling 91 MW.

NC-47 represented the first time Starbucks, a long-time investor in renewable energy, participated directly in the financing of a renewable energy project after years of utilising Renewable Energy Certificate purchases to offset their carbon footprint.

Highlights:

  • 149,000 solar panels over 260 acres
  • Financing partners included New Energy Solar, U.S. Bank, and Starbucks
  • 80,000 MWh of clean energy per year, enough to power 600 Starbucks stores
  • 56,000 tonnes of carbon emissions displaced annually
